OUR STORYHELP is a program that was first developed in response to the public health crisis in Flint Michigan that exposed the city to lead in their drinking water. This crisis created a call for action around preventing lead water exposure. HELP responded to this call for action by helping multilingual people better understand health information. HELP is a program that was developed for people who speak Spanish and have lived, worked, or attended school in Flint or Genesee County. The program teaches health literacy skills and English language skills. It teaches these skills using the topic of lead poisoning during the Flint water crisis.
